Well, I've had a few days to settle in now so I figured it was time for another entry. Well, honestly it was time for another one a few days ago, but the last few days have been pretty busy. I'm on campus for 4 hours in class, then another hour for lunch, and its an hour commute both ways. This takes up some time. However, the real issue has been the orientation sessions that happen after class mixed with the large amounts of Japanese vocabulary memorization each night. It has certainly been interesting so far. Class actually isn't that bad, although I will admit it may be a touch dull – but, honestly, what class isn't? It is certainly better than many I've taken back in the US. The professor is a nice guy and pretty amusing too. The class itself isn't to hard yet either, although the amount of memorization is... massive. Essentially, it is a weeks worth of work every day. But, hey, I'll live. My fellow students who've traveled here to participate in this program have all been great people so far. I've been able to make some friends that will hopefully last for quite a while. I imagine we'll all grow pretty close during the course of the year. My host family has been just absolutely amazing as well. I would recommend anyone thinking of studying abroad to find a program that has a host family program. I've been able to learn a great deal from them and I had some great conversations as well. That is even better considering the limited amount of Japanese I know, and they aren't entirely fluent in English. This has led to a situation of mutual learning as well as a lot of alternate communication. For example, I somehow explained my religious background with a set of coasters and a glass. I'm rather proud of that one. I'm going to cut it somewhat short for tonight. It's around midnight and I plan on being up in about six and a half hours or so. I've got some pictures taken over the last few days though, so expect some of them to come up in a post in the near future. Tags: japan osaka kwansei gakuin kansei
