I admit, a name like 'Emergent Future' doesn't necessarily burst with obvious meaning. However, this site does actually serve a very particular purpose (well, more than one really). This site is focused on areas of technology that revolve around the word 'emergent' - not just as in, new technologies, but rather a different use of the word. Emergent Gameplay, for example, refers to an activity within a virtual environment where players create a game using the rules of the world, but using them in a way that the developer did not intend. Thus, emergent in this case means that I am looking out for new ways of using technology, new ways to view the world through technology, and new break throughs that allow people to interact with each other in ways never before dreamed. More specifically, I'll be focusing on areas such as web development, electronics, online games, and community management.

So, you're curious about who runs this site then? Fair enough: I am a senior, nearing graduation, at Michigan Technological University, I am computer maintenance for a computer lab, I am a lead web developer for Husky Game Development, I am the site manager of StationK7.com - as well as this site,  I am a writer, I am a hobbiest game designer, I am an avid lover of technology, I am a philosopher on online communities, I am... well, I guess a lot of things. But who isn't? Suffice to say, I love technology. Specifically, I love technology that brings people together, allows greater communication, provides greater organization in our daily lives, and technology that changes the way in which we live, learn, and view the world. Web development, game development, mobile technology, and more is all highly interesting to me.
